We’re proud to share the launch of Made In Latin America, a brand new podcast from SD Celar at the British Museum – and episode one is live: The Tonindeye Codex.
This series has been a long time in the making. We spent many hours in the basement studio of the British Museum, crafting conversations with the extraordinary team behind the SDCelar department: Laura Osorio Sunnucks, Mercedes Martínez, and Magdalena Araus Sieber. Despite the cramped space and soaring temperatures, the energy in the room never dropped – the ideas were sharp, the history rich, and the mission clear.
Episode one dives into the Tonindeye Codex – a pre-Hispanic Mixtec manuscript held at the museum – and explores its layered narrative through fresh writing and sound design. Jack Monaghan’s thoughtful script brings ancient knowledge into contemporary conversation.
It’s been a privilege to produce this show and we’re thrilled to finally share it. You can explore more about the SD Celar department here or listen to the full series on Apple Podcasts.
