*A quick note on safety*
We can safely help with everyday home technology, setup, and troubleshooting. We don’t carry out electrical work on mains wiring. If anything needs an electrician, we’ll tell you.
Robert Moutrey lives and works locally in Leyton. He’s an experienced sound engineer and AV specialist, and has produced audio for organisations including the BBC, The British Museum and Imperial College. He’s friendly, patient, and used to explaining technical things in plain English. He’s also a family man and a lover of art.

A quick call to understand your goal (podcast, voice reel, music, livestream), your current setup, and the main problem. We’ll recommend the best next step (remote, in-home, or a different route if specialist repair is needed).
It’s strongly recommended because it prevents you booking the wrong appointment type. If you already know exactly what you need, you can book directly — but the consult usually saves time and money.
Most setup and workflow issues: DAW settings, interface routing, mic choice/positioning, basic room-sound improvements, remote recording setups, export settings, and troubleshooting you can show on video or screen-share.
Anything that needs hands-on access (cabling behind desks, re-positioning kit, mounting/stands, room layout changes), physical faults, or issues that require swapping hardware. The free consult helps identify this upfront.
We troubleshoot live, improve what we can immediately, and identify the biggest wins. Then you’ll receive a written report with recommended fixes, costings, and sourcing guidance.
We diagnose the issues, optimise the physical setup, tidy routing/cabling where needed, and aim to get everything working smoothly together. You’ll also get a report with any recommended purchases and clear next steps.
No — sessions are billed for time and expertise rather than guaranteed resolution. But you’ll always leave with a clearer setup, a diagnosis, and a practical plan of action.
Refunds aren’t provided just because an issue can’t be resolved within the session time. If it becomes clear early on that the session isn’t suitable (for example, it needs specialist repair), we’ll stop and talk you through the best next step.
You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your booking. Late cancellations or missed appointments are normally charged because the time is reserved for you.
Be near your gear, have passwords/logins available, and be ready to show your setup on camera. If you can send photos of your desk/room, and a short audio sample of the problem, even better.
Primarily local to East London (and nearby areas), with availability depending on the week. The free consult is the quickest way to confirm whether we can come to you.
Yes — if new gear is the right answer, we’ll recommend options at different budgets and explain what matters (and what doesn’t). We keep it compatible with what you already have.
